The Vail Valley Foundation, in conjunction with Stanford University's Precourt Institute for Energy (PIE) and Precourt Energy Efficiency Center (PEEC), are hosting the event to address the world's energy challenges and solutions.

TIME: Ski/ride begins at 8:30 AM; concert begins at 5:30 PM
Participants will ski/ride down a "pink-ified" mountain in support of Shaw Regional Cancer Center (must have a ski pass).
The optional "Checkpoint Challenge" will be available for those competitive folks who want to win cool prizes! Hunt down five famous Vail decks, grab a Pink Vail coin at each checkpoint and bring it to registration to be entered into a drawing for incredible prizes.
At 4:00 p.m., cancer survivors, family, friends, and those skiing in honor of a loved one are asked to convene at Eagle's Nest (top of the gondola) to begin a "Celebration Ski Down" to Arrabelle Square.
An après party and concert in Arrabelle Square will be open to the public with food, drink, prizes, and a FREE concert by Gomez.

TEVA Mountain Games

Now in its 11th year, the Teva Mountain Games are the nation's largest celebration of mountain sport, lifestyle and music featuring top professional and amateur athletes from around the world. The environmentally friendly adventure sporting event hosts approximately 3,000 outdoor athletes, along with an estimated 40,000 spectators. Athletes converge on Vail's mountains and rivers to compete in eight sports and 24 disciplines for over $100,000 in prize money. Events include kayaking, rafting, stand up paddling, mountain biking, road cycling, World Cup Bouldering, amateur climbing, fly-fishing, trail running and a half marathon. Additional events at the Teva Mountain Games include: a film series, Outdoor Reels; a photography competition, Mountain Click; an interactive expo area, Gear Town; DockDog canine competitions; free concerts at Mountains of Music and the Teva Mountain Ball. The Teva Mountain Games are a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.

Now in its 24th year, the Vail International Dance Festival has developed into a treasured celebration of dance, renowned for its artistic excellence and unparalleled programming. Nearly 20,000 people from around the United States and parts of Europe descend on Vail, a vibrant cultural destination, for the Festival's two-week residence. The event's spirited atmosphere transforms the village into a culturally rich environment that is inviting to dance aficionados and newcomers alike. The 2012 line-up will include performances by New York City Ballet MOVES, Martha Graham Dance Company and additional artists to be announced soon. Tickets for the 2012 season will go on sale winter 2012.

Vail Kid's Adventure Race

Vail's signature, kid's-only race will return for two days this summer pitting more than 100 teams of two, ages six to 12, against each other on an obstacle course like no other in Vail Village and on Vail Mountain. In its third year, the KEEN Vail Kids Adventure Race offers children an opportunity to work together to navigate an adventure course including hiking, mountain biking and zip lining on Vail Mountain; tubing down the Gore Creek; plus archery, an underground river crossing and balancing on a slack line over a mud pit. The highlight of the race is Vail's-own giant Slope-n-Slide, a 100-foot version of a slip-n-slide that takes participants down the front side of Vail Mountain for a fun and wild ride. During the race, parents aren't allowed to help the teams as they use a kid-friendly map to orientate themselves around the course. The past two summer's races have sold out and it's anticipated to be another packed event for the younger ones.

A popular format in Italy, Gran Fondo races usually include Italian sponsors, Ferrari cars at the start of the race, a pasta party for participants and a two-day expo. The Vail event is part of a national series that includes San Diego, Beverly Hills, Philadelphia, Reno and Miami.

An open-air gourmet food and wine festival, Gourmet on Gore takes place along Vail's Gore Creek Drive and Bridge Street showcasing the Vail Valley's premier restaurants as well as wine, beer and spirits from around the world. There is no cost for admission and guests can sample tasting-size portions of gourmet food as well as wine tastings and other beverages at very reasonable prices. Live jazz music, wine demonstrations combined with great food and drink come together to create a wonderful atmosphere in Vail Village. All ages are welcome, although you must be 21 and older to enjoy the alcoholic beverages offered.

Tour of Vail

Cyclists of all ages and abilities can participate in this non-competitive and fully supported bike marathon on a tour of the scenic Vail Valley to benefit local charities. Saturday features a scenic ride through the Vail Valley, while Sunday's event include a criterium-style Pro/Am race in downtown Vail Village. Participants and visitors also can enjoy the Tour of Vail Expo in Vail Village throughout the weekend.
